Becoming Bryn – Blog Tour – Angela Carling + Giveaway

Today I’m so happy to be part of the  „Becoming Bryn – Blog Tour”!  I’m happy to host Angela Carling, author of the books Shackled and Unbreakable Love. She did a guest post for my blog!

Carling_Bryncover2GUEST POST

I’m so excited to be here on Roxxa’s fabulous blog to share a post about my latest book, BECOMING BRYN!

For months, Jesse has been envious of her twin sister Bryn and even has a crush on Bryn’s gorgeous, popular boyfriend, Quinton. When Jesse awakens from a coma to learn that everyone thinks she is Bryn, the option of actually taking over her sister’s life is beyond tempting, but there’s a downside. She’d have to give up Ethan, her best friend and the only person she trusts. Could she actually live as Bryn for the rest of her life? And if her family and friends found out, would they ever forgive her?

At one point in Becoming Bryn, Jesse finds herself in position where she has to choose between the boy she’s dreamt of and the boy who has been her best friend, even in her darkest times. The question I pose today is, will she choose Quinton or Ethan? An even better question is who would you choose for Jesse? To help you decide, I’ve written five things about each boy. Let me know who you think is the best person for Jesse.

Introducing(the oh so hot) Quinton.

quintQuinton is:

1. Athletic

2. Wealthy (he drives a black hummer)

3. Popular at school (he makes all the girls swoon)

4. Fun. Quinton is always up for a good time.

5. Determined. Quinton always knows what he wants and usually get it.

& Ethan

ethEthan is:

  1.  Funny. He has a great sense of humor and always jokes around with Jesse
  2. Kind. Even when Jesse accidentally throws up on his shoes, he doesn’t get angry.
  3. Involved. He’s always dragging Jesse to help with some committees or school activities.
  4. Smart. Ethan knows what he wants for his future and has the grades to go to a good college.
  5. Hard working. Ethan works in the ice cream shop with both Jesse and Bryn and let’s just say it gets hot enough to melt the ice cream some times

So there they are, five tidbits about each boy. Who will Jesse end up with? You may be surprised!  Thanks for stopping by. Let me know what you think of Becoming Bryn. Can’t wait to connect with you on:

2013 Summer Author Blitz Tour – Guest Post with Samira Bellissimo

SummerAPBsmallbutton

Today I’m so happy to be part of the Summer Author Blitz, hosted by Belle Whittington & Tabatha Perry !  I’m happy to host Samira Bellisimo, author of the book Beyond the Darkness. She did a guest post for my blog!

Beyond-the-Darkness-14486136-7Queen Evita and King Ceron Vioras have been brutally murdered. Their four children, believed to also be dead, have escaped. After ten years, they return to their kingdom to find a world that is corrupt, centered around their father’s death, and run by the man who killed him. Their people have been led astray for far too long. It is time for the Vioras to lead them out of the darkness, and reveal what lies beyond it.

 From the author:

My favorite element of Beyond the Darkness is my favorite element of life: the collaboration of beautiful and unique characters.  Here are my characters’ stories:

 Ceron Vioras:

When I was alive, I was a king.  I put my people’s interests before my own.  I loved my family.  I still do.  After my beautiful wife and I were murdered, we watched over our children to keep them out of harm’s way.  Now, our children are grown.  I have allowed them to enter harm’s way just enough to be returned to our kingdom and to learn their roles in this world.  Now that my children are in our kingdom once again, I trust they will lead our people.  I will guide them along the way, counseling and advising them through dreams.  They have much to teach through both actions and words.  I trust my people will learn from them.

 Evita Vioras:

I love my children with all my heart.  As I watch them grow up by husband’s side, I know they have made us very proud and will continue to do so.  No matter what happens in life, they always dance.

 Adam Vioras:

I am the oldest child and the only son of Ceron and Evita Vioras.  When I love someone, I love them with all my heart.  I suppose that’s why I’m a wolf; I am loyal to my pack.

When I was thirteen years old, my life changed forever.  My mother called me to her.  She led me out of the house to make sure my sisters would not hear our conversation.  Her eyes were full of tears.  She told me one of our subjects planned to murder us.  She told me she and my father were the ones this man was really after.  She told me their murders were unavoidable at this point; that if Cherape didn’t kill them, his followers would; that if they left Cherape would find them; that if Cherape found them with my sisters and me, none of us would be spared.  She told me her and my father’s only concern now was keeping my sisters and me safe.  She told me to leave with my sisters that night, lead them to a remote place in the mountains where no one could find us, and to never return home.

I wanted to find a way to save my sisters and my parents.  Logically, I knew I couldn’t, but in my heart, I have never accepted that what I did was my only option.  My siblings, my parents, and I all gathered together.  My parents told us how deeply they loved us, and that my sisters and I needed to leave for a trip but they would join us as soon as they could.  After a tearful goodbye, I took the supplies my father had packed for us, and I left with my sisters, knowing my parents would be dead by morning, and telling my sisters that everything was fine.  All was going according to plan, but the oldest of my little sisters seemed to know something was wrong.  We were already deep into the forest.  We were already out of sight.  We needed to keep going.  Then, a mare’s whinny echoed through the forest.  Victoria knew it was mom’s.  She ran back through the forest, toward our home.  I morphed into my wolf form and ran after her, but I did not catch up to her in time.  I seized her as she reached the forest’s edge.  I threw my hand over her mouth before she could scream.  We were both horrified by what we saw.  Our home was on fire.  Our parents were being stabbed to death.  As hard as she fought to run to our parents, I pulled Victoria back into the woods.  I tried to explain to her that our parents could not be saved, and that trying to save them would get us all killed.  I told her our two younger sisters, Cassie and Aiyanna could not know what we witnessed, not until they were old enough to handle it.  She reluctantly understood.  We returned to our sisters and continued our journey to our new home.  Confiding in one another is how Victoria and I survived that tragedy.  Because of this, we are very close.

After ten years of going undiscovered in the mountains, I thought I had fulfilled my promise to my parents.  I thought my sisters were safe, but we have been found.  Cherape’s men discovered our sanctuary.  After a fierce battle, they captured and imprisoned us.  My sisters and I worked together to escape our imprisonment.  Once we escaped, we saw how are people are living now.  We knew we could not return to the mountains.  Our people need us now more than ever.  Now, we live among our people.  Some of our people recognize us, but most of them do not.  We have made new friends who have generously opened their homes to us, Jason Conner, Vitalia Sonomi, and her 5-year-old son, Nicholas.  Vitalia and Nicky recognized us immediately.  Jason believes we are human refugees.  Victoria and I have been staying with Vitalia and Nicky.  Cassie and Aiyanna have been staying with Jason.

Ah, Jason.  I fell in love with him the moment I met him.  As stressful as this whole situation is —knowing my family is under constant threat yet again; knowing my people do not recognize me and seem to despise me for some strange reason— Jason makes everything better.  I feel an immense joy around him that I haven’t felt since mom and dad died.  He makes me feel alive, but he hides me.  He never wants me to hold his hand when people are watching.  He doesn’t even let me call him “Babe” in public.  I don’t understand the condemning looks we get when I break these rules.  Most of all, I don’t understand why Jason doesn’t see in him what I do: a kind, loving soul.  He doesn’t seem to like who he is, and it breaks my heart.  All I want is for the people I love to be safe and happy.  I get frustrated because this is not so, but my sister keeps my hopes up.  I want peace to come at no price.  Victoria reminds me that peace will come with change, and change will come with revolution.

 Victoria Vioras:9707_502834059761312_28693814_n

I am the eldest daughter of King Ceron and Queen Evita Vioras.  As all members of the royal family are, I am a shape-shifter.  I morph back and forth between my golden eagle form and my human form.  I am the only living healer in my family.  This trait of mine allows me to feel the physical and emotional pain of anyone I touch, and heal their physical wounds instantly.  While this allows me to understand my friends, my enemy, and my people, the limitations of this gift frustrate me.  I am able to instantly heal the physical wounds of those I love and those I do not know, but emotional wounds, I cannot heal, at least not instantly.

There is a great deal of pain around me.  My people seem to have forgotten who they are.  They seem to have forgotten who my family is.  They seem to have forgotten the values we stand for and how deeply we love them all.  I try to tell them, but they do not recognize me.  If they listen to their heart, their heart will tell them who I am.  But they are listening to someone else now: Cherape.

In dreams, when I speak to my father of my frustrations, he tells me to keep my faith in our people.  He assures me they will learn.  I believe this, and so I continue to teach my people.

 Cassie Vioras:

Cherape has a special talent for triggering my mountain-lion-temper.  He has turned our people against us.  I thought it was bad enough that he brutally murdered both my parents, but now he’s telling our people what we want from them.  He tells our people we want them to turn against each other.  Those of our people who don’t recognize us turn against us.  After a day of being yelled at, insulted, and spit on, I was literally thrown out of a shop all because my dress was a little low-cut.  The people here don’t know I’m royalty.  Just because I’m loose, they think they can treat me like dirt.  They think they can treat my brother like dirt too, and don’t get me started on that.  I can understand people attacking me ‘cause I say what I think and what I think isn’t always nice.  But my brother; my brother’s a nice, caring, wonderful person.  He’s only been with one guy who he’s been in love with from the start, which is how people say I should be living, but look how much good being dedicated to one guy has done for my brother.  I’ve slept with quite a few men, but I wasn’t using any of them.  Each of these guys just seems to think that my family’s abandoned them and that we don’t love them, and I want them to know that we do love them but I’m not so good with words…  I actually fell for one them, Matthew.  Ironically, he’s one of Cherape’s guards, but he can’t stand Cherape any more than I can.  Since I’ve started dating Matthew, I’ve been faithful to him.  I don’t get to see him very often, but when I do he makes me feel happy in a way I’ve never been happy before.  He’s as sick of the pain and suffering in this place as I am.  We’re going to take this kingdom by storm.

 Aiyanna Vioras:

I am the youngest daughter of Ceron and Evita Vioras.  I was very young when they were murdered.  My siblings remember the event more vividly than I do.  I remember that I loved my parents.  I still do and always will.  I remember they taught us be respectful and to live in peace and joy.

My siblings and I have returned to our kingdom.  We returned in an unpleasant way, but now that we are here, we are making the best of it.  Our kingdom has flaws now.  Our people lash out at times, but I know they are just scared, and in time they will find love to be more fulfilling than fear.  Many of them appear to despise me for some reason.  One woman told me the color of my skin makes me an untrustworthy person.  You see, my form other than my human form is that of an artic fox.  As an artic fox, in both my human and animal forms, I am light in the winter and autumn, and I am dark in the summer and spring.  As strange as my people behave at times, I see the beauty in each of them.  I have grown particularly fond of the young son of a dear friend of mine, Nicky.  I do what I can to keep a smile on that precious young face.  The children of my kingdom know I am royalty.  I feel they are too.  The spark of light that shines through me, shines through them brighter than any adult I have ever met.  With time and patience, I know this light will shine through all my people.

Thank you Samira!

What if all you knew about fairy tales was wrong?
Sixteen year old Loki Blackstar is no Prince Charming. His mother is a ghost. His only friend is a red Cadillac that talks to him through the radio. He looks like an Angel but acts like jerk. No wonder he has been banned from Heaven, which is the least of his troubles. Loki needs a job to pay for school and support himself.
Still, Loki has a rare gift: He is a Dreamhunter. One of the few in the world who can hunt and kill immortal demons in their dreams so they never wake up again.
When Loki is sent to kill a sixteen-year-old vampire girl the locals call Snow White Sorrow, he is pulled into a magical but dangerous world. The locals believe the monster to be Snow White.
The real Snow White… living in the ruins of an ancient castle in a small town. She is described as horribly beautiful, terrifyingly enchanting, and wickedly lovely.
What he finds instead is a beautiful monster girl filled with rage and hurt, who has an epic untold story to tell of things such like why the Brothers Grimm altered the fairy tale, who the Evil Queen really is, where the mirror came from, and who possessed it.
Snow White has killed every person who has dared come near the castle where she once lived with the queen. Mysteriously, she lets Loki live, and whispers two words in his ears; two words that will change his life forever.Goodreads: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/13557166-snow-white-sorrowPurchase:

about firefly
 From Goodreads:
“The darkest days are ahead of us,” Andrew whispered as the drape of shadows slipped away, allowing Blair to awaken. And in her heart of hearts she knew it was true. The unmistakable signs were all around her, growing within her. She was becoming something more than human. All she could do was accept the inevitable.
“I’ve become a freak … an alien. I no longer belong to the human world,” Blair told her true love, and he held her close, determined never to give her up.
“I’d stay in this darkness forever as long as I could be with you. Wherever you are … that’s my home.” Everett meant every word. In fact, he’d willingly give up his own life to protect the girl he’d always loved.
But there was a storm brewing … a firestorm so strong and catastrophic that it could keep them apart forever.
That storm roared into town wearing a brown leather bomber jacket and riding a motorcycle.
Ash was like a secret in human clothing … a dangerous secret. Everything about him was mesmerizing – right down to the swirls of ink that flowed over the smooth muscles across his chest and around his arms. Being with him was like playing with fire.
Blair knew all about playing with fire.
She knew something else, too. A small quiet voice deep within whispered that she really would be separated from everyone and everything she’d known and loved. Because some secrets run too deep.

Love Lessons I’ve Learned from Books

There are many types of love: familial love, friendship, romantic love, love of pets, religious devotion, love of home, patriotism, love of possessions.  The list really is endless.  As a student of Literature at University of Houston, I had the chance to read a wide variety of stories, books, and plays covering all types of love.

Color Author Pic-Belle Whittington (1)For instance, the love of honor is strongly threaded throughout my favorite old heroic poem, Beowulf.  If you’ve had the chance to read it, you’ll know what I mean.  Beowulf is steadfast in his conviction to do the right and honorable thing.  It’s one of my favorite things about that tale.  And not only that, Hrothgar the king of the Danes, loved his people and generously shared rings of gold in his mead hall.  What I took away from these two types of love in Beowulf is that one should be true to his/her morals and ethics and also be kind and generous to team members, fellow country-men, and those he/she leads.

But, I digress… I could talk British Literature all day.

In Hunger Games, the friendship between Katniss and Rue is so touching.  Together, they forge a bond, which they are both willing to keep intact no matter the cost … even if the price is one of their lives.  That enormous price is actually paid when Rue stays behind to create a diversion so Katniss can destroy the cache of goods Kato and his group have accumulated.  Pardon me while I wipe the tears from my eyes.  I can’t tell you how hard that scene made me cry when I read Hunger Games!

I think Ender’s Game contains a good example of familial love.  Ender adores his sister, Valentine.  And even though they are separated for years as he attends training, their love remains steadfast between them.  This, also, was a heart wrenching storyline to read.

Little Women has a strong thread of love of family and home embroidered through it.  And the same goes with Anne of Green Gables.  Of course, in that book, you’ll find love of literature, too.  In both of these, I think what I leaned most about love was that it does not always have to be wild and rampant.  It can be love of comfort and home.  After a long hard day at work or school, isn’t that what we all long for … to go home and be surrounded by our loved ones?

The summer I turned ten years old, I read Where the Red Fern grows and cried my eyes out.  If you haven’t read this book, you should.  It’s the heart warming and heart wrenching tale about a boy and his two prize-winning hunting dogs and how both master and canine are willing to fight to the death for each other.  In the end, one dog dies and the other morns herself to death over the loss of her littermate.  And you’ll cry your eyes out when you read it!

Oh, but then there’s romantic love.  Don’t we all adore it?  In Pride and Prejudice, romantic love doesn’t come on swift wings, but grows as Elizabeth Bennett and Mr. Darcy come to know each other more.  It’s a love born out of respect and commonality.  It’s probably my favorite love story of all time.  It’s like the best flavor of cupcake topped with an extra dollop of my favorite butter cream frosting.  Reading it once just isn’t enough!

However, there’s a different type of romantic love in books.  I’m currently finishing up Beautiful Creatures, and the fated love between Ethan and Lena is fantastic.  Their relationship, like most fated loves in books, ebbs and flows until they become inseparable.  I haven’t gotten to the end of this book yet, so I don’t have the final outcome.  But I have my suspicions.

What love lessons have I learned from books?  I learned that no matter how far I roam, there’s no place like home; that loyalty, honor, and patriotism is important; that friends are an extension of family, and it’s important to nurture and protect those friendships; that family and pets love with a love fierce enough to fight and die for me; that the kind of love that springs from mutual respect is the most beautiful of all. And I’ve also learned something else.  I’ve got the most wonderful readers in the whole wide world, and I really mean it when I say, “I love my readers!”

Excerpt from Snow White Blood Red

Dear Wilhelm Carl Grimm,14759955

She is not that giddy, naïve, and helpless princess she pretends to be. Please don’t let her fool you with her innocence if you see her sing to the birds in the forest. Resist her charm from bringing joyful tears to your eyes, and shield yourself from her devious beauty before she deceives you into wanting to kiss her awake. It’ll  be a kiss of death. Your death. That’s how she fooled the Huntsman, Prince Charming, and me, her birth mother.

I still remember the original script of the fairy tale, the one you wrote in 1812. It clearly stated that she was my own flesh and blood daughter. I don’t have the slightest idea why you altered it fifty years later.

What was the point of turning me into an evil, narcissistic, and heartless stepmother, blinded by jealousy and envy of the young princess?

For years, I have been looking forward to telling you the truth about her, but you were impossible to reach.

I am glad I found your brother, Jacob. He told me that you wanted to tone the stories down so children could sleep better at night, instead of having nightmares about the Queen who sought to eat her daughter’s heart and liver.

Shame on you, Wilhelm.

You, of all authors, knew why I wanted to kill her. My actions were justified. I was trying to save my kingdom from her wrath, before everything we loved was destined to an end. The same way you had to rewrite the true fairytales after cursing us, so the War of Sorrows would end forever after.

Night after night, and year after year, parents fed their children false bedtime stories, until your lies grew into inescapable memories. Your happily ever after lies, Wilhelm, shaped the so called fairy tale world.

I wondered why you didn’t burn the original scripts, instead of rewriting them. You must have figured out that sooner or later someone would dig up the truth and expose you. Altering it was the smarter solution. You let children believe that the bites were resurrecting kisses, and that torturing glass coffins were made for sleeping beauties, waiting for a prince to come and kiss them awake.

A wise man once said that the greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he was someone else. You did the same with us, Wilhelm. You turned us into pastiches of the immortals that we really are, and made it harder for us if wanted to persuade the world otherwise.

I know that you did it to save us from her. And I appreciate how you concealed our real names, or we would have ended up like Rumpelstiltskin, tortured by those who knew of his real name.

But sometimes, I can’t help but wonder why no one ever questioned why I was called the Evil Queen, and why I was never given a real name in the books.

Was I so superficial to the world, so stereotypical and mundane? Why was I treated as if I were the monster of the week?

You know what I think? I think that the world never got the time to hate me. It just wanted to hate me long before it met me.

If I tell those who detest me about the true nature of their little princess, would they ever care about me half as much as they care about her?

I know that deep inside, they adore me. They like the way I talk, walk, dress, and even the way I kill.

They are just afraid to admit how much they love me. I am the Snow White Queen, strong enough that I don’t need anyone’s pity or love, because I am loved by the greatest and most majestic heart in the world:

Mine.

Diana Nixon – Love Lines – First Birthday Celebrations

I’m very happy to be a part of this blog tour and I hope you’ll like my interview with Diana Nixon, the author of  Love Lines.

111LLL

INTERVIEW

  1. Hello Diana! Thank you for granting me this interview. I’d like to talk first about Love Lines. How did this story come into being?  Love Lines was my debut fantasy novel. When I started writing it, I wasn’t thinking about the series of books. But when I realized that one book wasn’t enough for the amount of ideas I had in my head, I turned LL into a series of novels:) The main thing that I wanted to show writing LL was the beauty of love and those emotions that overwhelm you when you are in love. In addition, I wanted to create a fantasy world where everything would be magical. I like creating complicated plots where everything is not what it seems. That’s why my Love Lines series if full of mysteries, adventures and secrets. I like when readers say that my books are unique, that they are not like many other stories of the same genre. And it inspires me to create something new:)
  2. What was the most challenging aspect of creating this character of Eileen Clark? The biggest challenge in creating Eileen was her inner world and character. I didn’t want her to be weak or insecure. I wanted her to be strong and brave, and sure about everything she did. It was hard to strike the right balance between being strong and annoyingly self-confident, but I hope I did a good job:) Despite the fact that two characters tell the story, Eileen is the main narrator, who is supposed to attract readers’ attention and make them want to read more.
  3. How did you approach the research needed for these books? There were a few things I needed to work on love lines32before writing a book. For example I used flowers to describe people’s emotions and thoughts. I looked through a few books and articles explaining their meaning to be more accurate in my words. I also needed some information about people’s auras, British landscape and weather.
  4. What are your current/future projects?  At the moment I’m working on the LL next book named Diamond Sky and a new series, or to be exact a trilogy about the guardian angels. My editor thinks I should try writing a contemporary romance, so maybe I will follow her advice and write one:)
  5. If you had to be one of your protagonists, who would it be?  It’s a good question. Can I say I would like to be Evan Murray?:) Apart from being my favorite character he’s an example of everything I would never dare to do or say. He’s very brave and strong and he never gives up. He’s an optimist just like me, but unlike me it’s almost impossible to discourage him.
  6. Who are your favourite writers and why? There are many writers whose books I like to read. For example now I can’t wait to get the second book of the Beautiful series by Jamie McGuire and Reckless by S.C. Stephens:)
  7. What was the book that most influenced your life — and why? I don’t know. Really:) I’ve became a fantasy author because I like reading fantasy stories. And there were many of them I liked a lot. From Twilight and Hush Hush to Harry Potter.
  8. What are your 5 favorite books —and why? Can I name my own books? Just kidding:) Okay so let it be Breaking Down by Stephanie Mayer, Last Sacrifice by Richelle Mead, Hush Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick,  Evernight by Claudia Grey and Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire. All of them left something special inside my heart:)
  9. What is the greatest challenge you have faced in your career as an author? Writing itself:) Everything about it is a challenge, from creating characters and gathering ideas for a new book to proofreading and publishing. Every on these aspects have some difficulties we face every day.
  10. Describe your writing room. I can describe it in one word – kitchen!:) Yes, it’s my favorite place to write. When I wake up in the morning, I go to the kitchen, make a cup of coffee, open my notebook and start checking my e-mail and Facebook. When I go to get another cup of coffee my writing part of the day begins:) But when it’s summer outside, I like working on a terrace.
  11. Take us through a typical day in the life of Diana Nixon. So I have already told you how my morning starts – with a cup of coffee. They say that life starts after coffee, so yes, it’s about me:) Usually I write 1 or 2 chapters per day. And with the amount of e-mails, my little daughter’s playing I get to my books somewhere at noon and work on them for about three hours. There are days free of writing, but I hate them, because I can’t stay without work for too long:) My evenings I spend with my family, making diner and talking about the events of the day.
  12. Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers? Thank you guys for everything! Your support, your amazing review and 5 stars ratings  make my days:) And it’s the best reward a writer can get. I hope you will enjoy reading my books and I will try to do my best to make them great:)

Respect Month Blog Tour featuring SHACKLED – Angela Carling + Giveaway

This is the day I’ve been waiting for. February is Teen Dating Violence Prevention & Awareness Month. I’m very happy to be a part of this blog tour and I hope you’ll like my interview with Angela Carling, the author of  Unbreakable Love and Shackled.

Shackled_webbanner2

INTERVIEW

1. Hello Angela! Thank you for granting me this interview. I’d like to talk first about your book, Shackled. How did this story come into being? This story was inspired by my sister’s real life experience with a controlling boyfriend. While she was six months pregnant with his child, he once beat her so badly, that he almost killed her. While the events of Shackled are a lot more fun to read about, I wanted to write something worth talking about.

2.  What was the most challenging aspect of creating this character of Lucy? I had to make her innocent but believable. Like most teens, she was inexperienced in love and relationships which made her trusting and vulnerable when her would be Prince Charming came along. At some point in life I think we’ve all had a little bit of Lucy inside of usJ

 3.  How did you approach the research needed for this book? We’d lived through my sister’s experience but most importantly I went out and talked with High School students about their dating experiences. I go to a lot of schools and this gives me a chance to really connect with my potential readers. Of course, also looked on line for resources and stories. They were surprising easy to find.

 4.  What are your current/future projects? I am so super excited about my next book. I’m actually in the final editing stages before I send the manuscript out to be read by publishers. My working title is Beautiful Deception and the story is this amazing journey for a set of sisters. On Halloween night, they switch costumes and after they are in a terrible car accident, they are identified as each other and they bury Brin, but think she is her sister Jesse.  Jesse, who is crazy jealous of Brin’s life then steals her dead sister’s life and of course her incredibly hot boyfriend….at that is where it gets interesting.

5.  If you had to be one of your protagonists, who would it be? Oddly, Nate from first book Unbreakable Love.  While he is downright hot, and does make mistakes, his heart is so pure good and loyal that I would want to take on those traits.

 6. Who are your favorite writers and why?I like Susanne Collins for her tough and candid writing style but I think my favorite YA author is still Meg Cabot. Her work is fun to read and when I’m reading to relax I want fun!

 7.  What was the book that most influenced your life — and why? The first book that really stuck with me is A Wrinkle in Time by Madeline LeEngle. She was so outside the box that she fueled my imagination in a way no other book had. The funny thing is, when she tried to get published she was told she was too different and no one would take on her work.

images8. What are your 5 favorite books —and why?

1. Victoria and the Rogue by Meg Cabot…it’s got this great protagonist that just can’t help but fall in love with and it’s witty!

2. Hunger Games by Susanne Collins…..well let’s face it, you just can’t put that book down.

3. The Hobbit…because that guy knows how to write an amazing tale.

4. The Fault is in our Stars…because it changes the way you see life forever!!

5. The Help….. because I lived in the Southern Part of the United States and saw the prejudice first hand.

 9. What is the greatest challenge you have faced in your career as an author? Time management! Between raising a family, writing and marketing it is crazy busy. Since I can’t give up sleeping at night, I rely on my amazing blogger friends and readers to pass on reviews for my books and keep my fingers crossed. THANKS GUYS1

 10. Describe your writing room. My favorite place to write is my cabin, but since that is two hours from myuntitled house I write in my bedroom most of the time. It is a beautiful room painted the color of the sky on bright clear day.  White shears hang down over massive windows letting me look out on the full green trees we planted six years ago. Plus, that is where my two favorite kitties(see photo below) love to lay on my bed and I find their company….inspirational

11. Take us through a typical day in the life of Angela Carling. Mmmm, I’m not sure my life is that excitingJ Most days it starts out waking earlier than I want to, getting kids off to school. Then I try to get my lazy butt on a bike for some exercise. All this time, I’m probably thinking about my story or someone in the book world I need to contact. After a shower, I often get to eat lunch with my hubby as he works from home. The rest of the day I avoid as much as housework as possible by doing book related stuff including hanging out on twitter with my book friends. Before I know it, it is time to pick up my oldest teenager from school and that means drama is coming home with me. Another hour goes by and my 14-year-old son and daughter who is only ten but thinks she is at least twelve, come home.  I get all the details of the day…who is friends with who and is dating who. Then it is dinnertime. I work to hard to avoid cooking by going out or asking my husband to cook on the BBQ. Then comes homework, mine and theirs.  Mom, mom, mom, I hear until at last, delightful bedtime arrives for my kids.  I try to spend this time with my hubby. Our favorite TV show is Once Upon A Time right now…and finally, finally, I get to sit down in a silent house and write to my heart’s content.  Somewhere in there, I sneak in visiting schools and shopping for food and other things for my family. Occasionally, I get a delicious nap!

12. Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers? I do, Thanks for the opportunity. My readers are what keep me going. I’m a very soulful writer and when my work makes someone happy, it is just the coolest thing.  For anyone who has taken a chance on my work, thanks. For anyone who has passed on my work as something worth reading….thanks a million times. Also, please feel free to contact me at angelacarling@gmail.com or on twitter @angelacarling .I’ve made some of my best friends that way!!
